Kennebunkport, Maine

Mike and I just got back from a wonderful getaway to Kennebunkport for my 30th birthday. My birthday was on Thursday (August 16th) so we decided to take Thursday & Friday off from work and head up to Kennebunkport for a little celebration. We stopped at Nubble Light and enjoyed a little picnic and then had ice cream cones at Brown's ice cream. My family used to vacation in Maine when I was little so I always remember going to Brown's for some delicious ice cream (although, my favorite is still Four Seas ice cream in Centerville). Then we got back on the road and headed to the quaint little seaside town of Kennebunkport.

We stayed at the Yachtsman which is a beautiful motel situated on the Kennebunk River. It's decor resembles the interior of a yacht and it has won many awards and was featured in Coastal Living magazine (it also allows dogs to stay overnight so that is an added plus). Although, we were planning to bring Baxter along, my dear mother-in-law offered to take him for the night.

Mike and I quickly got settled and enjoy a bottled of wine on our patio. We were watching the boats go by and noticed that two U.S. Secret Service boats were docked right outside our room. Later that afternoon, we also saw former President Bush's boat go by with the U.S. Secret Service trailing right behind him.

That evening we enjoyed my fabulous birthday dinner at Stripers Restaurant at the Breakwater Inn in Kennebunkport. The restaurant was also situated on the Kennebunk River and had spectacular views and a beautiful sunset. It was the perfect way to end my wonderful birthday.

On Friday, we woke up early and enjoyed walking around and shopping in Kennebunkport. We also took a ride to see some of the beaches and came across beautiful Gooch's beach. It was a huge stretch of beach which had a ton of dogs running around enjoying the waves and water. At this point, we wish we had brought Baxter along. We then headed south and enjoyed lunch at the famous Barnacle Billy's in Perkins Cove before heading home.
